  so alec baldwin shot a woman dead on set and seriously injured another man.. what do we put this down as?

  a tragic accident?

  maybe ... except that implies no one was to blame.. the more you find out, the more it seems that this was due to negligence and lack of attention to safety.

  With all the CGI capabilities these days, I don't know why they would even need to use an actual gun. Couldn't they use a realistic looking fake gun and add the sound and other necessary gun effects in later?

  I'm not sure about Dementia but because of the two witness rule, I'm guessing that if you're Bi-Polar, you could be required to testify against yourself.

  Watchtower January 2022 The Memorial

  next years memorial article focuses on the two class system that they promote.. interestingly, they mention how the anointed are in two covenants.

  the new covenant and the kingdom covenant.

  they claim that both of these covenants opened up the way for a small number to become kings and priests in heaven.

  They also write that once in Heaven, they will be serving alongside Jesus and that they are co-rulers.

  Imagine it, you're not only born into this world without any choice in the matter but you're born into the JW religion or become one on you own. Eventually you get a "heavenly calling" and you're "anointed". Without any choice in the matter, you've got to spent all eternity co-ruling with Jesus as a sexless spirit creature. You've got a job for all eternity when everyone else gets to live in paradise like they're Adam and Eve. Why is this a good thing?

  "Keep doing this in remembrance of me" means "show up and watch but don't partake of anything because the new covenant in my body and blood is not for you"???

  The afternoon before the last memorial we ran into an uber JW relative (elder). He asked if we had our wine and bread ready for the zoom memorial, if not...he had some extra he could give us. He knew full well that we don't attend anymore but it was his way of letting us know how "spiritual" he is.

  It was all I could do to keep from saying.. " The wine and bread are emblems...symbols. You aren't of the anointed so why can't you just view the wine and bread on zoom when the talk is given and leave it at that? Isn't remembering Jesus sacrifice the important thing? Weren't Jesus apostles the only ones at the actual observance ? Weren't the rank and file outside? What are you going to do with that wine and bread after the memorial, just throw it out or will you drink it or eat it ? If the bread and wine are actually significant or of great import, throwing it out would be disrespectful and drinking/ eating it would be wrong if you aren't of the anointed.

  Yada-yada...it would have been a waste of my breath. He's a nice guy but has really bad critical thinking skills as is evidenced by the personal blunders he's made in his own life in terms of finances and raising his kids. Can't imagine him dishing out advice or making life altering decisions regarding the fate or congregation members.

  Not that it matters to me one way or the other but I think this is all about "optics". How bad has it made them look to have all the churches open and operating all this time and they still aren't ? What does that say about them having allowed the worlds government virtually stop the all important preaching work without so much as a whimper ? What does it say about their trust in Jehovah to see to it that his work is carried out without fail? Didn't I see a tract that showed an elaborate painting of heavenly angels standing by watching a group of JW's go from door to door?

  Many churches in our area either defied the Covid rules altogether or went to great lengths to make sure they could still meet safely. Some even set up huge marquees in their parking lot so they could have open air services. Some even had services that you cold drive up and listen from your car. The Mormons have been coming around for at least a year now. They knock and just stand back from the door and keep a social distance. Why couldn't the outdoor literature carts have been operating safely with the same Covid restrictions being used in similar settings these last 6 months?

  I have a feeling that between stopping the preaching work and them begging for money for a movie studio, there's been a bit of backlash from a good number of people who are beginning to notice the mixed messages and are seeing the irony of it all .

  Daily Texts

  did anything from the daily texts wake you up about the truth about the truth?.

  I'd go through periods of trying to be consistent in read the daily text but it usually faded out over time.

  Looking back, I realize that a lot of importance was put on the daily text because it was the perfect place for them to take a single scripture, isolate it from the surrounding verses and interpret it completely out of context. Typically they'd sum it up with comments that eluded to how wonderful they are and how grateful we should be and how we we needed to be doing more.

  I realized that much of my life was spent examining issues that didn't exist and pursuing goals that were based on a false premise and someone else's agenda.

  First and foremost, I became less judgmental of myself and less narcissistic and realized that I was not responsible for saving/enlightening the whole world nor was I capable of it. God's personal happiness and the fate of the whole world was not revolving around me and my minuscule life.

  I have my own standards that I live by and I let others have theirs, even if they're not necessarily what I would do. If they ask me, I'll tell them why but otherwise, it's none of my business.

  Guess what? nothing in this world change except that I now have more peace of mind because I'm good enough for God or anybody, just as I am.

  If there is a God and he does have a future plan in store for mankind, there's no reason I shouldn't be included in it.

  Can non JWs be witnesses in a committee meeting?

  i am not sure but i know where non jws have been brought in for a witness to a judicial meeting.

  what is the official policy on this?

  They take themselves quite seriously so I'm guessing not. If by chance an non JW were allowed in, they'd probably have to sign a non disclosure agreement and wear a burlap bag over their head, on the way to and during the meeting.

  Question..about a picture I thought was in the old Paradise book..

  i have a friend that is considering going back.

  i figure it is her life and maybe it is something she needs.

  anyway we were talking about when she was little and she remembered a picture in one of the books where it showed teh new world with pictures of everyone around the lamb etc in paradise.
